AutoCAD Based Steel (Ribbon/Toolbar/Location)

Button: Floor Elevation Function: Abacus Error Type: Unhandled Exception

Description:

When clicking the abacus to enter a length, you get this error;

Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application.  If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Index and length must refer to a location within the string.  Parameter name: length

Solutions:

Cause:

Bad entry in the list of recent values.

Likely due to clicking OK while there was a blank entry.

\

NOTE:  As an alternative, you don't have to use the abacus to enter length or elevation values.  Type in the value you need in the setup window  Type a) the number of feet, b) the foot mark (apostrophe), then c) the number of inches in decimal form.  No dash, no inch mark.

For example, if your value is [11’-4½”], type out 11’4.5 in the setup window

Solution:

See if you can get a good file from a colleague.

Go to this folder; C:\HES\HydraCAD\Ver50\Data\Setup

Replace this file; History.dat

If you're adventurous, you can edit the file using Notepad and get rid of any blank lines under Feet or Inch then save the file after updating it.
